Because it scares me every single time.
Friends who aren’t runners will often look at me like I just admitted to killing a baby when I tell them how much I ran last weekend. I can barely run one mile, they’ll tell me. But, I still consider myself a novice at this running thing, and make it clear that I am equally as shocked. I still can’t believe I ran 13 miles the other weekend. And I’m scared as hell just...

Good idea! My apartment is a black hole, where cell phone service/internet connection ceases to exist. I’ll try to put it near a window next time though!
I AM IMPATIENT.
Fewer things more annoying that waiting for my Garmin to locate. I swear, it sometimes even goes backwards! Anyone else have this issue? Am I just doing it all wrong?

This week's mileage game plan:
Since IRunCHI asked, and yes, for accountability’s sake:
Tuesday: 3 miler
Wednesday: Going out with Bridgerunners if I can (hopefully if I do, it’ll be near the 7 miles I need to log)
Thursday: 4 miler
Friday: rest
Saturday: 10 miler (or go out again with Bridgerunners again, we’ll see)
Now the question is, what do I do if I don’t stick to my plan? Suggestions?

Got an EKG done last night.
Me: Wow, that was fast.
Nurse: Yep. The technology's amazing. American's don't like to wait.

An exceptional weekend.
I was in Vermont this weekend at Killington Resort with work friends. We skied, ate incredible food (I tried game — venison, moose, and elk — for the first time!), and drank loads of beer. I can’t tell you how calm and relaxed I am after this weekend. It’s been a long while since I was this content. Despite identifying strongly as a city mouse, I have to give credit to the awesomeness...

Renewed my NYRR membership for 2012.
Last year was about simply making it through NYRR’s 9+1 program. I was still focusing on stabilizing myself in the city — job, apartment, social life, etc. As January 2012 approached, I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to renew my membership for another round of 9+1. What if, after 2012’s Illinois and NYC marathon, I didn’t want to run any more marathons? What if I never wanted...

Morning runs
I woke up for a 5 a.m. run yesterday and felt fantastic all day. I woke up for another 5 a.m. run this morning, but decided to sleep in for another two hours instead. Now, here I am, feeling totally groggy, completely not alert, and deeply regretting not going out for a run. Funny how the body works, huh?

GPS Watch Can Be an Unreliable Running Partner →
Definitely faced this truth during a few races this summer. You know what was annoying? The Nike+ GPS voice (not a watch, I know) telling me I already finished a half marathon when I clearly wasn’t done on the Queens course. It’s a bummer, but I wouldn’t stop using my Nike+ GPS on my runs.
